Wickham m1816

An original model 1816 in flintlock. This is a transitional piece between the first and second types. Wickham was a major contractor of U.S. longarms before the Civil War. This musket has a nice even brown patina and smooth metal. Many 1816s were converted to percussion before the Civil War, which makes finding those in flintlock challenging unless they were reconverted.

This would fit in nicely with a collection of early 19th Century longarms or one devoted to the American Civil War as these muskets were used by Confederate troops through the Valley Campaign in 1862. $2300 shipped.
